About the role:

FHR has an opening for an Account Executive to join our Public Affairs and Corporate Reputation practice groups. This unique and exciting career opportunity is for a “Political Enthusiast”, who demonstrates a proven understanding of the Canadian government and all its branches. Under the direction of senior management, the chosen candidate will provide a wide range of communications support, with a focus on research, writing, monitoring & media/stakeholder relations for clients across Public Affairs & Corporate Reputation.

Responsibilities:

• Daily media, policy and political monitoring for FHR Public Affairs and Corporate Reputation clients, including the development of client reports

• Conducting research and performing scans on government and party positions, stakeholders and stakeholder positions; media issues and influencers, etc.

• Assist in the preparation of various written materials to support outreach to government (political, legislative and staff); stakeholders; media, etc.

• Support administrative management through budget trackers and activity reports

• Contribute to a collaborative work environment and guide and support interns

• Consistently keeping supervisors and account team leads updated

• Support RFP submissions and new client pitch processes and teams through research, brainstorming, industry and competitive analysis and stakeholder assessments

• Exhibit a solid ability to effectively manage time and prioritize projects

• Other duties as required

Skills and Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree or Graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Political Science

• Brings strong PC skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TEAMS)

• Bilingual in English in French would be considered a strong asset

• Must possess an understanding of the Canadian government and up to date with current issues in Canadian politics

• Must hold a minimum of 2 years of relevant client service experience in a public affairs or corporate communications role - public relations/public affairs agency is preferred

• Highly adept and capable of conducting research and environmental scans via electronic and digital media

• Have excellent multi-tasking skills and exceptional time management skills

• Exhibits a strong understanding of social media platforms and how they are leveraged by media

• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and detail including adherence to company and client standards

• Exhibits strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a well-defined work ethic

• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills – Demonstrating a capacity to break down and communicate complex subjects effectively

• Must be able to conduct registerable lobbying activities in Ontario and federally

The salary range for this role is $60,000-$70,000

**Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada indefinitely and this is a hybrid role. Candidates based in Toronto will be required to work out of FHR’s Toronto location 3 days per week. Candidates based in Ottawa will predominately work from home, however, will be required to meet with team members and clients in person, as required.
