This week, FHR was pleased to welcome Pierre Cyr as our new Vice President, Public Affairs.
This was a crucial hire for our company and our clients. As the top integrated communications agency in Canada, we take the word ‘integrated’ seriously. Our goal of course is not only to offer a lot of different services, but to align and activate our expertise and experience across the business for maximum client benefit.
Pierre Cyr is an exciting hire for exactly that reason. First, he has extensive experience working the hallways of both Parliament Hill and Queen’s Park and brings deep knowledge of how governments function, both legislatively and politically. But, more importantly, Pierre understands that to reach government officials and influence the policymaking process in 2019, public affairs teams need to work in unison with new, integrated digital, creative, and reputation management strategies.
Taking a leadership role in our Ottawa office, Pierre will be a key piece in the continued modernization of FHR’s PA offering, bringing the strategic counsel and connections to key stakeholders that our clients need, especially in a federal election year. He will also be working closely with our nationally renowned team of digital experts to bring their award-winning consumer and b2b social strategies to the PA side of the business.
Get to know Pierre
Known as a ‘roll-up-the-sleeves’ operator, Pierre has run dozens of political campaigns over the years and is adept at bringing teams together and leveraging everyone’s unique talents to push towards a shared objective.
Fluently bilingual, Pierre most recently served as Director of Board and Stakeholder Relations at Canadian Blood Services. At CBS, Pierre developed deep ties with healthcare leaders and politicians across Canada, leading advocacy events, stakeholder outreach and political strategy at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.
Previous to his time there, Pierre was a key member of Premier Kathleen Wynne’s staff as Executive Director of Operations, where he oversaw political strategy, planning, and outreach to community groups and the Liberal caucus. Prior to that, he served as Chief of Staff to two senior provincial cabinet ministers, as well as Director-level roles in several other minister’s offices. In 2011, Pierre was Director of Political Operations for the Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, where he coordinated political operations and community outreach across the country.
Currently, Pierre serves on the Board of Directors of the Empire Club of Canada and is Operational Vice President (Organization) of the now-rebuilding Ontario Liberal Party.
